Meet Grace

Taking a break from my photowalk posts to introduce you to our new family member: meet lovely Grace! Grace is a 14-week-old Maine Coon kitten who finally moved in with us two weeks ago. I forgot how wonderful and engaging having a kitten was! Grace has made our lives brighter — including the one of our dear Tove, who finally has someone to play with. Naturally we have been taking millions of photos of Grace, but we are sharing only the best ones on Grace's own Instagram — take a look, if you please!

Photowalk with Katariina

This was the third time my friend Katariina got in front of my camera — I feel like every time we both get more confident with it. In Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden there were still a few trees in bloom and the light that evening was magnificent. I'm glad I decided to go out, despite the flu — sometimes you just need to do what you love to feel better!

Photowalk with Oona

Oona must be the only other person in Finland who owns a Petzval — at least to my knowledge. When we met through the Valokuvaajat & Mallit Facebook group, she asked me if I wanted to take her portraits and give her some tips on the Petzval at the same time — she got hers only a few weeks ago. I'm so glad I said yes; not only Oona was a great model, but we also had a very interesting conversation about the Petzval. I'm not used to share my knowledge with other people — I don't think I would make a good teacher — though I believe I gave Oona some useful tips! Photowalk with Johanna

Johanna is another lovely girl I have met through the Valokuvaajat & Mallit Facebook group. We took a photowalk together on Wednesday evening, when the weather was still warm and nice — it has been raining cats and dogs for two days now. Johanna was fun to be with and a very good model: her copper hair is incredible and I most definitely want to call her again for other photowalks!

Photowalk with Senja

June has proven to be more rainy than May so far, though I have managed to find a partially sunny afternoon to take a photowalk with Senja. I am so glad it did not rain that day! I really enjoyed that session: I found some trees that were still in bloom and made the most of the occasional sun light filtering through the drifting clouds.

Photowalk with Kate

I hope you are all having a great start of June! The past month has been so sunny that I can only hope we will continue to have sunny days in June too. On Sunday last week we visited the Malminkartanon omenatarha — an orchard of apple trees in Northern Helsinki — for the first time. Unfortunately we were a little too late to see the garden in full bloom, but I still think it was worth to have my photowalk with Kate there. When comparing these photos with those I took in March last year, I cannot help but notice I definitely grew more confident at taking portraits.
